  • Proof of onward travel (return or connecting flight)
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host letter)
  • For TR visa applications at an embassy: proof of sufficient funds (20,000 THB per person / 40,000 THB per family per MFA guidance; other entry types may use different amounts)
  • Completed visa application form (for TR visa applicants)
  • Passport-size photographs (for TR visa applicants)

Our Process

  1. 1

    Determine the right entry type

Many nationalities enjoy 30 to 60 days visa-free. For longer stays or multiple entries, a Tourist Visa (TR) may be more suitable.

  2. 2

Apply for a TR visa if needed

Apply at a Thai embassy or consulate. Single-entry TR visas allow up to 60 days; multiple-entry visas allow repeated 60-day stays.

  3. 3

    Arrive in Thailand

Present your passport and supporting documents at the port of entry.

  4. 4

    Extend your stay

A single 30-day extension can be applied for at a Thai immigration office for 1,900 THB.

Many visitors arrive expecting to extend their stay easily, only to find that eligibility, required funds, and valid entry options vary by nationality and shift without much notice. Getting it wrong means a wasted trip to the embassy or a refused entry.

For stays beyond the standard visa-free period, the Tourist Visa (TR) is usually the right tool. Single and multiple-entry options are available, and the right choice depends on your travel plans and passport.

Visa Siam helps you work out which entry option applies to your situation and prepares a complete application so there are no surprises at the embassy.
